Some more details have come out about the crash that claimed the life of a 9-year-old Manitowoc girl earlier this week.
51-year-old Monica Walker reportedly told police that she had been drinking the night before but had stopped at around midnight.
She said that she was driving her granddaughter Tkyia Brewer to Green Bay to pick up the child’s mother at around 8:40 AM and was attempting to eat a hamburger.
That is when she caught a patch of ice, flipped the car, and the unbuckled Tkyia was ejected.
Walker reportedly told police that the Homicide by Intoxicated Use of a Vehicle charge wasn’t fair because she had not been drinking that day.
Walker had been charged with an OWI previously and blew a .092 after the crash.
Walker is still in the Manitowoc County Jail on a $10,000 cash bond and has her initial appearance on Monday (February 15th).
