If you take the COVID-19 numbers reported by the Manitowoc County Health Department on Wednesday (February 10th) and reverse them, you basically have the numbers for yesterday.
26 new cases were confirmed in the latest report, along with 17 new recoveries. This brings the pandemic totals up to 7,125 confirmed cases, 6,487 recoveries, and 577 cases remain active. This is also the first time in about a week that the number of new cases outweighed the number of recoveries.
Also rising was the number of hospitalizations, which jumped by seven to 55.
On a positive note, there were no new deaths reported for the seventh consecutive day, leaving that number steady at 61.
In Sheboygan County, it was much of the same, as the Division of Public Health reported 41 new cases and 31 new recoveries. This brings their pandemic totals up to 12,621 confirmed cases, 12267 recoveries, and 229 cases remain active.
There were no new deaths in Sheboygan County either, with their death toll remaining stagnant at 125.
Over the past few weeks, the trends in Manitowoc and Sheboygan Counties seem to be mirroring each other. If one county sees a small spike, the other has been following suit.
The only stat that hasn’t been following that trend is the death toll, as Sheboygan County has been hit much harder in that regard. The older generations have accounted for the highest number of deaths in both counties, with 68% of deaths in Manitowoc County being over the age of 76, and 72% in Sheboygan County were over 70.
