
A total of five fire departments were called to extinguish a house-fire in Manitowoc County yesterday afternoon (February 9th).
According to St. Nazianz Fire Chief Mike Kaufmann, his department was called to 20-621 Carstens Lake Road in the Town of Eaton at about 2:45 PM.
Kaufmann explained the blaze began as a chimney fire and extended into the attic area. The fire was under control by 3:30 PM and the following cleanup at the scene all personnel left the area shortly after 5:30 PM.
No damage estimate at this time and the cause of the fire is considered accidental.
Firefighters joining St. Nazianz in the mutual aid effort were from Valders, Newton, Kiel, and Reedsville along with Valders Ambulance and St. Nazianz and Newton First Responders. The Towns of Liberty and Eaton provided sanding operations with the water movement to the scene.
