A lop-sided sweep of Border Rival Minnesota has boosted the Wisconsin men’s hockey team into the top-10 of the U-S-C-H-O-dot-com poll.
The Golder Gophers were ranked number-two in the nation last weekend when the Badgers steam-rolled them 12-goals-to-two. That also placed coach Tony Granato’s team on top of the Big Ten Conference standings.
The Badgers haven’t beaten Minnesota worse – by more goals in a two-game series – since 1983. The Wisconsin sweep knocked the Gophers down three spots to number five.
The Badgers men travel to Michigan Saturday and Sunday.
The Wisconsin women’s hockey team also showed up strong, holding on to the number-one spot in the poll.
