State Senator Andre Jacque of De Pere has attached his name to a couple more bills that are making their way through the legislature.
The first bill calls for an expansion of the Tools of the Trade Apprenticeship Program, which has bi-partisan support. It creates grant programs under which the Technical College System Board and Higher Educational Aids Board may award grants of up to $1,500 to technical college students and tribal college students who have undertaken an apprenticeship program in conjunction with their course of instruction at the technical college or tribal college.
The other relates to Expanding Achieving a Better Life Experience (ABLE) account participation and aims to require the Department of Financial Institutions to study and report on establishing a Wisconsin qualified ABLE program allowing tax-exempt accounts for qualified expenses incurred by individuals with disabilities.
Senator Jacque has been rather busy since the Senate and Assembly have come back into session, co-sponsoring a number of bills, many with support from both Republicans and Democrats.
