The name of the 9-year-old Manitowoc girl killed in yesterday’s (Monday) single-vehicle rollover crash in Manitowoc Rapids has been released.
Manitowoc County Sheriff Dan Hartwig says that Tkyia J. Brewer was a passenger in a car driven by her grandmother-51-year-old Monica Michelle Walker also of Manitowoc.
A preliminary investigation indicates that Walker was traveling northbound on I-43 South of Middle Road when she lost control-entered the ditch and overturned before coming to rest.
Tkyia was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle suffering fatal injuries and died at the scene. Manitowoc County Coroner Curtis green indicated the preliminary cause of death is blunt force trauma.
Walker was transported by ambulance to Holy Family Memorial for possible injuries then transported to the Manitowoc County Jail and charged with homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle and operating after revocation-causing death.
Her initial court appearance is scheduled for later today (Tuesday).
