Bail is set at $10,000 cash for a 51-year-old Manitowoc woman facing charges in connection to a fatal rollover crash Monday morning in the Town of Manitowoc Rapids.
Monica Michelle Walker is charged with homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle and operating after revocation causing the death of her 9-year-old grand-daughter Tkyia J. Brewer also of Manitowoc.
A preliminary investigation indicates that Walker was travelling northbound on I-43 South of Middle Road when she lost control, entered the ditch and overturned before coming to rest. Tkyia was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle suffering fatal injuries and died at the scene.
Manitowoc County Coroner Curtis green indicated the preliminary cause of death is blunt force trauma. Walker was transported by ambulance to Holy Family Memorial for possible injuries then transported to the Manitowoc County Jail.
Conditions of bail are that Walker not operate a motor vehicle, maintain absolute sobriety, report to the Sheriff’s Department for photos and prints upon release and she is not to travel outside the state of Wisconsin.
Walker remains in the County Jail and her initial appearance is scheduled for February 15th at 1:30 p.m.
