We’re getting the coldest air of the season so far and maybe the lowest temperatures with wind chill in perhaps a couple of years.
Jerry Haupt, owner of Lakeland Landscape, says it’s been a pretty easy winter up until this week. “We just did out billing for the month of January and the first time we went out (to snowplow) was the 16th, with the first two-and-a-half weeks of January being virtually snow-free and the temperatures weren’t bad either,” Haupt said. “ No super spikes one way or another.”
Haupt, during an appearance on WOMT’s “Welcome Home” program with local builder Brandon Bartow, explained that the added snow cover is a positive. “That’ll be a good insulation blanket for soil and plants,” he stated. “ It’s something we’ve had before actually, it’s surprising we haven’t had anything like this before now.”
In reaching February, Haupt quipped “to me it means two winter months are behind us and when we hit March I always think Spring, although we can get snow then, too.”
