The eighth annual “Music for a Cure” will be held tomorrow (February 6th) at City Limits in Manitowoc.
Spokesmen Chad Hoerth says this fundraiser began as a gesture for a friend’s medical bills while battling cancer.
”We started this for a friend in need. Then people began asking when and if we’d do it again,” Chad explained. “After hearing more stories we decided to register as a 501c3 non-profit organization-taking on sponsors and it just keeps growing every year.”
They’ve helped 53 people thanks to this event but, ”Three weeks ago we had no recipients,” Chad said. “I’d rather have that going in knowing that there would be plenty of money in the bank to help as many as possible. We now have three local recipients struggling with all aspects of cancer which keeps you motivated to keep going.”
Last year perhaps was their most successful yet, as they donated $10,000 to Cody Lewis, a Two Rivers High School student who was diagnosed in 2019. They also donated to six other families in the area throughout the year.
Doors open at 4:00 PM tomorrow, with several local and area bands playing the tunes until 11:30 PM. Admission is $10 per person at the door which gives you the chance to win some great raffle prizes.
