The City of Sheboygan’s Board of Waterworks Commissioners is considering resuming water service cutoffs for delinquent accounts.
The Wisconsin Public Service Commission had suspended disconnections statewide during the pandemic due to many people struggling financially. Now that most businesses are reopened, and people are back to work, the City is looking at resuming the standard cutoffs on April 15th.
The recommendation from the Sheboygan Water Utility is to resume the disconnection program in April, but with an increase in the trigger point for disconnections up to $300, and a reduction in the down payment for a deferred payment arrangement from 50% to 25%.
The Board will be looking over a draft proposal at their February meeting.
