A Senior at Two Rivers High School is making history. Collin Dombrowski is a member of the Raiders eSports team, and he is the first member of the team to receive a scholarship.
Colin told SeehaferNews.com that he was approached in mid-December by representatives from Lakeland College. “They were just talking about how they have this co-op and eSports program,” Collin explained. “I thought ‘Hey that’s pretty cool.’ I can get myself into eSports and try to see if I can stretch myself away from other clubs and get myself out there professionally.” And a few weeks ago, they returned and offered Collin a scholarship to play on their Overwatch team. “I’m glad to be joining that eSports program,” Collin said. “I’m really excited to do more with that game, and be a part of a tight-knit team of people who have that same drive.”
Collin said he wasn’t sure what his plans were for college prior to this but did have a general direction he wanted to go. “I knew that I wanted to do something with graphic design,” he explained. “I always loved how UI systems in video games, and how they always had a reason for everything. If you have too much clutter it can be a real issue when you try to really get into the mechanics.”
Collin may be the first success story of the young program at Two Rivers High, but he will likely not be the last. Senior Nicholas Sorensen and Junior Damon Ducat are also working toward receiving scholarships.
