The numbers show that political campaigns for office don’t have to be national to be costly.
The Wisconsin Democracy Campaign released an analysis Thursday showing the Legislature’s four campaign committees spent a record $12-million in 2020. The old record was $8.4 million.
The Republican Assembly Campaign Committee spent the most at a little over $5 million. Assembly Democrats spent $3.1 million.
The Committee to Elect a Republican Senate spent $2.3-million and the State Senate Democratic Committee spent $1.6-million.
