In September 1915, the Green Bay Art Club held its first public art exhibit in the children’s room of the Kellogg Public Library (125 S. Jefferson St.). This exhibit laid the foundation for a permanent museum in the library in 1917, which became the Neville Public Museum.
Ever since then, Colony artists have held an annual art exhibit at the Neville Public Museum.
The 106th Art Colony Exhibition is currently on display and will be through March 14th at the museum, located at 210 Museum Place in Green Bay.
This past year has been particularly challenging for everyone due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Therefore, the theme for this year’s exhibition is Art Gone Viral. A total of 36 artworks from 25 artists were juried in by Elizabeth Meissner-Gigstead, Executive Director at the Miller Art Museum in Sturgeon Bay.
These works are reflective of the personal expressions of overcoming difficulty while remaining optimistic for a post-pandemic world.
