The Manitowoc Parks and Recreation Department has been working hard these last few days to get the downtown Manitowoc ice rink back in shape.
After last weekend’s high temperatures and a large volume of skaters, the rink was in rough condition. The resurfacing crew advises ice skaters to stay off the rink when it gets warm and sloshy, not only for safety but to keep the rink in a nice condition to maximize skatable days in the season.
The Parks and Rec Dept. sets out a sign that reads “Ice Rink Closed” on days when the rink or weather is a poor skating condition and asks the public to stay off the ice and come back another time when it’s open.
