A Green Bay woman has been sentenced after she was deemed partially responsible for her infant daughter’s death.
33- year-old Sarah Kairys pleaded no contest to a charge of Neglecting a Child Causing Death, and will spend 10 years in prison. Meanwhile, Juan Maravilla, who was deemed responsible for the death, was sentenced to 24 years in prison.
The two were arrested in May of 2017 after the 15-month-old child was brought to St. Mary’s Hospital covered in bruises.
She was already dead by the time doctors saw her.
An autopsy determined the child had suffered multiple fractures and injuries which resulted in a perforated bowel, which is what caused her death.
