Madison police have arrested a 44-year-old driver for his third OWI offense after he drove his vehicle up the exterior stairs of the Wisconsin State Capitol early Sunday.
Willie Burks was taken into custody shortly after midnight.
Witnesses told responding officers Burks had driven up the steps, then around the exterior landing platform of the building. He eventually parked the vehicle and was taken into custody.
In addition to operating while intoxicated, Burks is also charged with reckless driving, operating while suspended, driving against traffic, and driving on the sidewalk.
