
After five days of sub-40 new cases of COVID-19, the Manitowoc County Health Department reported 42 new cases of the virus in their report yesterday (January 14th).
Those cases, coupled with 37 new recoveries, leaves the pandemic totals for the County at 6,560 cases, and 5,549 recoveries. It also means the active case count rose slightly to 956.
However, no new deaths were reported, leaving that total stagnant at 55 for the 6th day in a row.
Also, 7 fewer patients are getting treatment in the Northeast Region of hospitals, lowering that number to 90, with 79% of ICU beds currently in use.
In Sheboygan County, there were a whopping 8 deaths yesterday, meaning their death toll has surpassed 100, now sitting at 106. Of the 8 deaths, four were in the 60-69-year-old age group, two were between 70-79 years old, and two were over the age of 80.
Also, 50 new cases were reported by the Division of Public Health, which means they have now surpassed the 12,000-case mark. That coupled with 46 new recoveries leaves their pandemic totals at 12,019 cases, 11,148 recoveries, and leaves 765 cases still active.
