The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) has awarded $750,000 in producer-led watershed protection grants to 30 farmer-led groups, including a couple in Eastern Wisconsin.
The Calumet County Ag Stewardship Alliance, and the Sheboygan River Progressive Farmers were among the 30 ag groups to receive funds from the 6th round of the grant program, which began with the 2015-2017 state budget.
The Sheboygan River Progressive Farmers received $35,000, while the Calumet County Group got $6,250.
The goal of these grants is to support producer-led conservation solutions by encouraging innovation and farmer participation in on-the-ground efforts to improve Wisconsin’s soil health and water quality.
