Governor Tony Evers addressed the State of Wisconsin yesterday with his State of the State address last night.
In the address, he honored the more than 5,000 Wisconsinites who have died from COVID-19, before listing his priorities moving forward. He spoke about the 2021 through 2023 budget and announced that he is calling the legislature into a special session to fix the state’s unemployment system.
State Representative Tyler Vorpagel of Plymouth issued a statement about the address, saying that he is “disappointed in how the Evers’ administration has continued to respond to the massive backlog in Unemployment Insurance claims”.
He went on to call it “disappointing…to hear the Governor attempt to shift the blame for the shortcomings of his administration.”
That being said, he also stated that he is “hopeful that the Governor’s office will realize how important it is to come to the table and have these difficult conversations to find common ground.”
