Two local representatives in the State Government have co-sponsored a bill in honor of a 7-year-old Newton boy who died in 2018.
Ethan Hauschultz died after he was forced to carry a 44-pound log around the backyard of his guardian, Timothy Hauschultz’s home after he reportedly spoke back to a teacher.
The bill co-sponsored by Senator Andre Jacque and Assemblyman Paul Tittl, entitled “Ethan’s Law”, aims to prohibit the out of the home placement of a child with an individual who has a record of crime against a child.
The duo said in a news release, “Wisconsin needs to protect children and establish a clear standard for Child Protective Services to avoid placing children with those whose record establishes a significant potential for serious harm.”
