A 29-year-old man has pleaded no-contest in an early 2020 homicide case.
Ian Suzuki was arrested on February 2nd at his mother’s home after he allegedly stabbed retired police captain Jay Puestohl.
Suzuki was initially charged with First Degree Intentional Homicide, but with the plea, had his charge reduced to Reckless Homicide. The reduced charge shortens the possible sentence from a mandatory life term to a maximum of 60 years in prison.
Suzuki will be back in court on March 8th for his sentencing, where prosecutors will recommend 30 to 40 years in prison.
