Former Wisconsin Badger Alex Turcotte scored one of the two goals as the United States won the World Junior Hockey Championship Tuesday.
The U-S upset Canada 2-0 in Edmonton to take the title. Spencer Knight had 34 saves in the shutout as the U-S won six games in a row.
The team finished sixth in the same competition last year – although the Americans have won four-out-of-five when they take on Canada for the top prize.
Canada had been dominant coming into the gold-medal game, outscoring its opponents 41-4.
The Canadians were trying to defend the title they claimed last year.
