The family of Jacob Blake says the decision not to file charges against a Kenosha police officer is a “slap in the face” by the Wisconsin government and the DA.
They’re calling for peaceful protests against systemic racism after the district attorney’s decision no criminal charges will be filed against Officer Rusten Sheskey, who shot Blake seven times last August.
With 500 Wisconsin National Guard troops on hand, protests in the southeastern Wisconsin city Tuesday night were loud but mostly peaceful.
Blake family attorney Ben Crump released a statement saying the decision sends the wrong message to all police officers and “further destroys trust in our justice system.”
