The news regarding COVID-19 continues to be rather hopeful following yesterday’s report by the Manitowoc County Health Department.
A whopping 96 new recoveries were reported, alongside only 15 new cases. This means that the active case count has dropped down to 955 for the first time since October 23rd. The total number of confirmed cases is now up to 6,173, and 5,167 people have recovered.
It should also be noted that there has not been a new death in Manitowoc County in a week, with the death toll remaining stagnant at 51.
There was a bit of not so good news, however, as 11 more people were admitted to area hospitals, bringing the total number seeking treatment for the virus back up to 107. Even with the number of active cases continually decreasing, the hospitalization rate continues to show that the virus is as dangerous as ever.
The Sheboygan County Division of Public Health also issued their first report since last Wednesday. 213 more cases were added in that five-day span, which is an average of just over 42 per day.
Also, 363 people recovered, leaving their pandemic totals at 11,483 cases, 848 of which remain active, and 10,541 recoveries.
There was also one more death linked to COVID, raising the death toll to 94. This individual was over 80 years old.
