
MONDAY
– A woman was arrested in Manitowoc Sunday evening after she allegedly slashed the tires on a car. Officers were dispatched to the Meijer location in Manitowoc just before 10:00 PM on a report of disorderly conduct. The caller they were driving there because they were being followed by a woman, who ended up slashing the victim’s tires after she parked.
– A 24-year-old individual has died following a rollover crash in Calumet County. Reports indicate that the crash occurred on Highway 151 near W. Jefferson Road in the Town of Brothertown at around 3:20 AM on Saturday. Details are scarce, but we do know that the vehicle left the roadway and rolled multiple times, resulting in the driver’s death.
– It was a scary scene in Green Bay yesterday afternoon, as police were involved in a standoff with an armed individual. The yet-unnamed suspect was seen driving in the area of W. Walnut Street and Ashland Avenue and a pursuit began. The pursuit ended quickly in the same area, and the male suspect exited the vehicle and fired his weapon at police, who returned fire. No one was injured in the incident.
– A Sturgeon Bay author is receiving national attention for his book which chronicles his father’s experience in WWII. Joe Tachovsky released his book “40 Thieves on Saipan: The Elite Scout-Snipers in One of WWII’s Bloodiest Battles” in 2019, and his novel was named the 2020 Best Book Award winner in the History: Military category by American Book Fest.
TUESDAY
– A second veteran Manitowoc City Council member has announced that he will not be seeking re-election in April. 3rd District Alderman Jeremiah Novak filed his notification of non-candidacy. This follows a similar announcement on Monday by 2nd District Alderman Scott McMeans.
– The Green Bay Police have identified the man involved in an hours long sand off over the weekend. 29-year-old Tou Vang is being held in the Brown County Jail on multiple charges after he reportedly fired a gun at police following a short chase that ended in the 600 block of West Walnut Street.
– An investigation is underway to find out what caused a fire on Christmas Day near Waldo in Sheboygan County. Details are scarce, but we do know that the call came in reporting the blaze at N3125 Blueberry Lane in the Town of Lyndon just before 1:00 AM on Christmas Day. There were no injuries reported, as no one was home at the time.

He said it is, “Just as important as you would have a smoke detector on the first and second floors. WEDNESDAY

– The Sheboygan Police Department has announced that a convicted sex offender is scheduled to be released from prison next week. 41-year-old Timothy D. Johnnies has served his sentenced time and will be residing in the 900 block of Michigan Avenue. Jonnies is not wanted by police at this time, however, he will be under 24-hour electronic monitoring and will be supervised by probation and parole agents.
– Rescue crews were able to save two men after they fell through the ice on Random Lake on Tuesday. A call reporting the incident was received by the Sheboygan County Dispatch Center at around 5:15 PM. When rescue crews arrived, they located a 47-year old man and his 25-year-old nephew and were able to pull them from the frigid waters.
– Direct government payments are expected to help Wisconsin farmers end the year with a higher average income than they did in 2019. The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Economic Research Service estimated in their latest farm financial forecast that net farm income will hit $119.6 billion in 2020, a 41 percent increase from 2019 and the highest income level since 2013.
THURSDAY
– A former long-time educator and founder of Hatrack Storytellers in Manitowoc has died. Sally Semmes passed away early Sunday morning at Rivers Bend Health & Rehabilitation. Semmes had just turned 90 last month.
– Some major Business news to report this morning: The SS Badger car ferry has been sold to an Ohio Shipping Company. According to a published report in the Mason County Press, Interlake Holding Company purchased the Lake Michigan Carferry Company & Pere Marquette Shipping Company. The sale marks the fourth time the Badger has changed ownership since it was launched in 1952.
– The 55-year-old man who went missing over the Christmas weekend in Outagamie County has been found dead. William Jarosh was last seen alive the day after the holiday having left his home on foot. Jarosh had fallen the day before and was believed to have suffered a concussion. The Outagamie County Sheriff’s Office reports that he was found in his home town of Buchanan, and that foul play is not suspected. The investigation remains ongoing.
– A 19-year-old Manitowoc man will be spending the next 9 years of his life in federal prison after he was convicted on gun and drug charges. Johnathan A. Erickson was already a convicted felon and received his latest sentence on Wednesday.
