Manitowoc Mayor Justin Nickels
While 2020 has been a year to forget in many ways, there have also been some positive things to come out of the past 365 days.
On a local level, the downtown area of Manitowoc has seen drastic changes as Mayor Justin Nickels explained saying, “From downtown improvements, and new murals, renovated buildings, like the Schuette Building and the former Studio 8 building, now Brix, to many new facades like Pizza Garden and all along 8th Street.”
He also recalled all the new businesses that have joined the Clipper City community. He said, “We saw large business growth, with Konecranes, Lakeside Foods, Meijer, Redline Plastics, and all the new development on the former Elks Club property, now Bayshore Development, with Angelus Senior Living Facility, BayCare, and new apartments, with more to come.”
Nickels also said that the city is looking forward to the upcoming year. He said he looks forward to the developments on the River Point District, more improvements downtown, at the Aquatic Park, and other parks in the city.
