An Appleton man saw first hand how supportive his community can be this holiday season.
Evan Strader, who has cerebral palsy, recently had his wheelchair and walker stolen off of his front lawn as he was waiting for a ride on Christmas Eve. He then set up a GoFundMe page to help cover the cost of getting a new set, and within two days of setting up the page with a $3,000 goal, he has raised $7,120.
Strader said on the page, “The generosity and selflessness the community has shown is overwhelming, to say the least.”
He also said that any excess money will be donated but did not specify where he would donate it.
This was a great way to end the year for Strader, who also saw his dad beat COVID-19 after being hospitalized with the virus earlier in the year.
