The first significant snowfall of the season fell in eastern Wisconsin last night and early this morning.
We spoke with Manitowoc County’s new Highway Commissioner, Greg Grotegut, who advised motorists to “Take your time. It’s a nice heavy, wet snow and should clean up real nice. Give our guys some room, and by 9:00 or so everything should be looking in better condition.”
Grotegut points out that winds will be picking up throughout the day, so “We might encounter some drifting here. The snow is a little wet right now so that should help up out.”
The highway commissioner said the majority of their road crews went out at 3:30 AM and they assigned four plows to clean up I-43. He described the interstate in Manitowoc County as being in fair to good condition as of 5:00 AM.
