A good candidate to be a bounce-back-Brewer in the 2021 season is infielder Luis Urias. He came over from San Diego in a trade with a positive reputation as a hitter.
Milwaukee expected him to compete with Orlando Arcia for the starting shortstop position, but he was idled with a broken bone in his left hand during spring training.
The day he was about to take the field for his Cactus League debut Major League Baseball was paused by the coronavirus pandemic. When the shortened season resumed in July, Urias tested positive for COVID-19, and when he did finally get into the action, he started strong, hitting almost .300 for the first two weeks, but faded after that.
Urias may be the Milwaukee Brewers player who could most benefit from a healthy, uninterrupted season.
