A Sturgeon Bay author is receiving national attention for his book which chronicles his father’s experience in WWII.
Joe Tachovsky released his book “40 Thieves on Saipan: The Elite Scout-Snipers in One of WWII’s Bloodiest Battles” in June of 2020, and his novel was named the 2020 Best Book Award winner in the History: Military category by American Book Fest.
Tachovsky reportedly got the inspiration to write the book at his father Frank’s funeral in 2011 and spoke with 4 surviving members of his platoon.
The 300-page book can be purchased online and at some local bookstores.
