Sometimes it can take a few years before you determine whether your team did well in the annual free-agent draft.
Six-and-a-half years later, it’s apparent – the Milwaukee Brewers 2014 draft class was just about a bust.
None of the top players chosen made it to the major leagues. What hurts even more is when the Brewers took high school pitcher Kodi Medeiros at number-12, Washington drafted shortstop Trea Turner.
There is some slightly good news. Milwaukee’s third pick in that draft, Monte Harrison, was part of the trade for Christian Yelich.
Harrison still hasn’t done much for the Marlins.
Then, there is some really good news, as right-handed pitcher Brandon Woodruff was picked up in the 11th round. He has been very productive.
