Governor Tony Evers Official Portrait
Governor Tony Evers says his next state budget proposal will “hopefully” include solutions for criminal justice disparities.
Evers called a special session last August to consider several policy reforms, but the Republican-controlled Legislature took less than a minute to start the special session – then close it out.
The governor had asked for new laws banning chokeholds, creating use-of-force standards for police, and creating grants for bodies trying to find ways to prevent violence.
Evers didn’t include specifics about his plans during a year-end interview with the Associated Press.
