
Work continues in the Manitowoc port on the first of several large cranes designed by Konecranes built in partnership with Broadwind Heavy Fabrications.
The crane’s ultimate customer is the US Navy & will support their nuclear submarine fleet. Weighing 2.7-million pounds when fully assembled the crane is fabricated, assembled, wired, and fully-tested under load at Manitowoc’s City Center.
Matthew Boor, Director of Business- Management at Broadwind, tells SeehaferNews.com the large crane, with a lifting capacity of- 140 tons, will ship-out next year & be transported on a barge through the Great Lakes and Saint Lawrence Seaway to a Naval base on the east coast. Boor indicated many other Wisconsin businesses are also experiencing growth & opportunity directly related to Konecrane’s projects in the Manitowoc area.
