Christian Yelich started the 2020 season in a one-for-27 funk and never recovered. Promising second-year player Keston Hiura didn’t live up to the potential he showed as a rookie, striking out in 34-percent of his plate appearances.
You don’t have to share those numbers with Milwaukee Brewers hitting coach Andy Haines. He knows, and he’s doing all he can to make sure the Brewers don’t finish 26th among the 30 major league teams again in 2021.
The offense missed Lorenzo Cain, who sat out the season, and often-injured Ryan Braun.
The job for Haines is to make sure the hitters meet expectations – so the Brewers don’t have to depend on the pitching staff to get them into the postseason for a fourth-year in-a-row.
