Golden Eagles senior Koby McEwen had just converted a four-point play to tie the score with 25 seconds left.
Xavier (8-and-0) remained undefeated by hitting 69-percent of its shots in the second half, including 7-of-10 on 3-pointers.
McEwen and Dawson Garcia scored 20 points each to lead Marquette scoring. Two losses in a row have dropped the Golden Eagles’ record to 5-and-4.
The team will try to bounce back on the home court Wednesday when Villanova visits.
