The COVID-19 numbers may be trending in the right direction, but that doesn’t mean we are out of the woods yet.
During his COVID-19 update this morning, Manitowoc County Emergency Services Director Travis Waack says that there is reason to be hopeful, however, “As we look at all of these numbers trending down, we need to remember that numbers go down, and as we have seen in the past numbers can come up. We still want people to remain vigilant especially going into this holiday season.”
Waack said he was happy to see that there wasn’t a “Thanksgiving Spike”, and attributed that to people taking the threat seriously, and following guidelines set forth by local, state, and federal health agencies.
“We’ve got the vaccine on the horizon. Let’s prevent one more spike this Christmas, and reduce those gathering sizes,” Waack said. “If you are going to have gatherings, try to distance and wear masks at those gatherings.
Stephanie Lambert, the newest addition to the Manitowoc County Health Department will be giving a COVID-19 update on Wednesday at 8:05 AM on WOMT and WCUB Radio. Waack typically issues a report on Mondays and Fridays, however, we will not be airing any this Friday in celebration of the Christmas Holiday.
