Paul Bunyan’s Axe stays in Madison after the Wisconsin Badgers won Saturday’s makeup game against Minnesota 20-17.
Collin Larsh kicked the game-winning field goal in the extra period.
The game was originally scheduled to be played November 28th but was delayed by cases of COVID-19 inside the Gophers’ program.
Wisconsin had to play without its top two rushers, Jalen Berger and Nakia Watson, and wide receivers Dannis Davis the Third and Kendric Pryor. Senior Garrett Groshek picked up the slack, rushing for 154 yards and a touchdown.
The Badgers’ other T-D came on a pass from quarterback Chase Wolf to wide receiver Jack Dunn.
Wisconsin’s season continues with an appearance in the December 30th Duke’s Mayo Bowl in Charlotte, North Carolina against Wake Forest.
