As Prevea Health and HSHS Wisconsin hospitals begin offering the COVID-19 vaccine to their frontline health care workers, they also want to be sure a very special someone is protected from the virus as he heads into a busy, holiday season.
Yesterday, Santa Claus visited HSHS St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay to get his first COVID-19 vaccine. Sadie Johnsen, a pharmacist for HSHS hospitals in Northeast Wisconsin had the special honor of administering the vaccine to Mr. Claus.
“He said it barely hurt, and he’s grateful to get a jump start on protecting himself from COVID-19,” said Sadie. “It was an honor to care for Santa this morning, just as it is an honor to care for all our patients as part of our Prevea Health and HSHS Wisconsin health systems.”
We look forward to seeing Santa again in 21 days for his final dose of the vaccine. He is now proudly wearing his “I was vaccinated” button from Prevea Health. Santa also reminds everyone of the importance of safety this holiday season, including the practices of social distancing and wearing a mask to help curb the spread of COVID-19.
“Being safe now and getting a vaccine when it becomes available to you will help to ensure we can all enjoy the holidays together next Christmas season,” said Santa.
