There is some good news on the horizon for Manitowoc County nursing home residents.
Manitowoc County Emergency Services Director Travis Waack told SeehaferNews.com during his update on Friday, “The State did announce that they have requested activation of the Pharmacy Partnership Program, which will begin to vaccinate nursing home residents.”
However, there is a bit of a wait for that to start yet. “We expect to see that starting to occur in the state right around the 1st of the year,” Waack explained. “There is about a 2-week delay from when the state requests the federal government to do that until it actually happens. The State is saving up their vaccine allocations, and those pharmacy partners at CVS and Walgreens will start to deliver it to pour nursing home residents right around the 1st of the year.” Waack also said that the Health Department and the County are still waiting on their allocation of the vaccine, so they can start performing vaccinations as well.
He said they would be focusing on the unaffiliated frontline workers such as emergency medical services that are not part of any hospital system.
