Congress is scheduled to meet through the weekend to put the finishing touches on and pass a nearly $1 trillion COVID-19 stimulus bill.
Sixth District Congressman Glen Grothman represents Manitowoc County in his constituency.
“I think there are many businesses that still need help and are hanging on by a thread. There’s also more money for testing which is a good thing because the more you test people the quicker the result and you know where you stand.”
$600 checks to individuals are also in the bill -something that Grothman and in his words, “people in the District aren’t in favor of.”
“Unemployment is well below ten percent in our district. There are retired people that are in the same financial position regardless of whether they receive the check or not. You realize economically it just doesn’t make sense and I’m disappointed that there are some of my cohorts who want to do that.”
The Glenbeulah Republican would like the CDC (Centers For Disease Control) to talk more about the importance of increasing vitamin D and zinc in people’s diet, which according to reports can reduce one’s chances of contracting COVID 19 by more than 50 percent.
