Representative Terry Katsma of Oostburg was appointed to the Joint Committee on Finance (JFC), the state’s budget-writing committee, on Wednesday by Assembly Speaker Robin Vos (R–Rochester).
This will be Rep. Katsma’s second term serving on JFC.
Rep. Katsma served on JFC during the 2019-2020 legislative session, during which the committee passed a conservative budget that made a significant deposit in the rainy day fund and held the line on government spending, which will help the state withstand the current financial strain.
The committee is expected to begin work on the 2021-2023 biennial budget following the introduction of the executive budget early next year.
