The newest addition to Downtown Manitowoc is celebrating its grand opening tonight.
Brix, which is located on the northeast corner of South 8th and Washington Streets, will be holding their ribbon-cutting ceremony this afternoon.
The owner of the restaurant and bar, Brandon Bartow told SeehaferNews.com that it feels good to be opening up, but they still have some things to finish. “We have a few delays on some furniture,” he explained. “When people come in they are going to see some of the old furniture that was a part of the dining area that we will still have to use until our furniture arrives. Thanks to the pandemic, this is one of many things we have had to hurdle over just to get the place open.”
Bartow Builders began working on the former Studio 8 building this summer and were able to modernize the façade, while also keeping the historic look.
“Fortunately we had some good advice from the City,’ Bartow explained. “I had help from Adam Teigen and Nick Mueller and both of those guys did a great job of guiding us to work with the city on the Façade Grant program.”
Bartow said they are still looking to add some day shift personnel in the kitchen and at the bar on a part-time basis.
The free ribbon-cutting ceremony will run from 4:00 to 5:00 at Brix, with COVID safety measures in place to keep everyone safe. They will also be offering building tours as well as light appetizers.
