The Manitowoc Police Department has announced that starting this Friday, they will be participating in another Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over Campaign.
About every three hours in Wisconsin, someone is killed or injured in an alcohol-related crash. Drivers impaired by alcohol or other drugs pose a serious hazard to themselves, their passengers, and everyone else along our roadways.
Preliminary data indicate that already in 2020, 166 fatal crashes occurred involving a suspected impaired driver, 31 more than in 2019 at this time.
In an attempt to help curb that trend, Police Departments across the state, including Manitowoc, will be adding additional officers on patrol between December 18th and New Years Day.
They specify that this campaign is not about stopping, citing, or arresting motorists, but rather about saving lives and preventing tragedies.
