Marquette wiped out a nine-point deficit with a big second-half explosion while upsetting the Creighton Bluejays Monday 89-84.
The victory represents the second time in seven games the Golden Eagles have beaten a top-10 ranked opponent.
Transfer guard D-J Carton led Marquette scoring with 20 points. Koby McEwen scored 18 and freshman Dawson Garcia had a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
The Bluejays were led by six-five senior guard Mitch Ballock’s 26 points.
Marquette’s bench outscored the home team’s non-starters 25-to-five in what was the Big East season opener for both sides.
The Golden Eagles (5-2) return home Thursday to host Seton Hall.
