The Manitowoc Police Department recently released its monthly reports for September through November, and there was a significant decline in the number of vehicle accidents in the city.
Through the end of November, officers responded to a total of 942 accidents, which is down from 1,268 in all of 2019. While there is still one full month remaining, it is not likely that there will be an additional 326 accidents in December.
It was a bit of a mixed bag as far as parking violations are concerned. There have been 165 more street sweeping violations this year compared to last year, with 2,477 tickets issued in 2020.
The winter-related tickets were quite odd, as 250 fewer winter parking ban tickets were issued, but there were 101 more tickets issued for snow emergencies. The winter parking ban tickets have been on a slow decline since 2018, declining from nearly 800 two years ago down to 229 this year. 230 snow emergency tickets were issued this year, compared to 129 in 2019.
