An argument between a couple turned violent over the weekend and resulted in a Manitowoc man being arrested.
According to police reports, officers were dispatched to an apartment building in the 1500 block of South 25 Street at around 7:30 AM last Friday on a report of family trouble.
The female victim met the officers outside and explained that she and her boyfriend had gotten into an argument. The 39-year-old man reportedly attempted to leave the residence with the woman’s car, but she stopped him before he made it out the door. He responded by putting her in a headlock, pushing her to the floor, and strangling her with two hands.
The man claimed the woman had hit him, and denied strangling her, but the woman had wounds consistent with her story.
The man was arrested on charges of Strangulation and Suffocation, Battery, and Disorderly Conduct, each with a Domestic Violence enhancer.
