Iowa beat the Wisconsin Badgers for the first time in five years Saturday, claiming the Heartland Trophy with a 28-7 decision.
The Badgers offense was ineffective for a third straight game, producing just 225 total yards and one offensive touchdown.
Nakia Watson powered into the end zone in the third period to trim the Hawkeyes’ lead to 14-7. In the fourth period, the Badgers weren’t able to score even when a series started at the Iowa five-yard line.
Wisconsin’s record falls to 2-and-3, but the Badgers have a chance to avoid their first below-.500 record in 19 years when they host Minnesota Saturday. That game will be made up at Camp Randall Stadium.
