For many, the Christmas season begins the day after Thanksgiving, and that is the case at Seehafer Broadcasting.
Starting on November 27th, the local media company began collecting items in what they are calling the “Hope Tree”. Jenny Kanieski explained that each year Seehafer Broadcasting chooses a different local non-profit to collect items for. “This year we chose, for our non-profit at the holiday time, the Hope House, so we are calling it the Hope Tree,” she explained. “They support people that are homeless…in our community.”
Jenny said that the program has been rather successful so far. “So far we are collecting quite a bit, but we definitely need more,” Jenny said. “Every family, when they send them to their new home, takes their blankets pillows with them, so they always need that. We definitely need a lot more items. We want to make sure that everyone has what they need at the holidays.” Seehafer Broadcasting is taking COVID-19 precautions as well.
Jenny explained that the glass entryway is open, where you can drop items off between 8:00 and 4:00 PM during the week. Then, Jenny said, “We will bring them inside, put them under the tree, and we will take them to the Hope House.”
The collection will continue through December 21st, and monetary donations are being accepted in a lockbox as well.
