This past Monday, December 7th, was the biggest day in the history of the Manitowoc Post Office for parcel delivery.
We were told that 9600 parcels were delivered on Monday, the most ever. Seehafer News spoke on Thursday with Robert Sheehan, Media Coordinator of the Lakeland District of the US Postal Service.
Sheehan on upcoming deadlines for getting your holiday packages delivered on time.
“If you’re going to use our retail ground service, the deadline is December 15th. For those mailing first class the deadline is December 18th, priority mail should be out a day later on the 19th, and for the procrastinators out there, the 23rd of December is the deadline for priority mail express service.”
As the weather turns colder and snow arrives it can slow down delivery.
“We always talk to our carriers about staying safe…with proper equipment and footwear. We also ask our customers help out by making sure sidewalks and driveways are shoveled to make access to the post office box clear, clean, and safe.”
Robert Sheehan closed by saying, “We’re committed, no matter what the volume is, to get the mail delivered on time.”
