The Two Rivers City Council unanimously passed an ordinance this week with the intent to move forward with a new splash pad and skating rink facility.
City Manager Greg Buckley explained during his weekly Two Rivers City Update on Tuesday on WOMT and WCUB Radio, “There’s consensus among the Council to seriously pursue such a facility on the west side of Central Park in front of the Community House. There’s $20,000 of planning money set aside for the project in the 2021 budget with expectations of this being a construction project in 2021 or 2022.”
Buckley added that the downtown area is preferred because “it would be convenient for residents and be a benefit to the Downtown plus draw local residents and visitors alike with the Community House nearby to provide support facilities.”
The Two Rivers City Manager says this project will likely involve some community fundraising.
This ordinance also includes direction for Buckley to come back with recommendations for citizen appointees for a planning committee. Citizens interested in serving can call the City Manager’s Office at 793-5532.
